SASSA is advancing, now offering several different payment channels for beneficiaries to receive their money, as follows:

Bank Account Deposits

• The widely used method by beneficiaries due to its convenience of getting money disbursed on a monthly basis, hassle-free.
• This is also one of the quickest, secure, and direct methods used by applicants to receive their grant money.
• This requires 100% detail to be correctly entered in the application, and this can also be changed to other methods, or you can even change your own personal account.

Post Office (SAPO) Payouts

• A traditional known method for receiving grants, but still used by many beneficiaries in South Africa.
• For some, it’s impractical as one has to stand in long queues to get the money package.
• Requires the hassle of traveling to a postbank branch, which may not be easily accessible in some areas.

Cash Send / eWallet Services

• The advanced but also one of the fastest ways, also widely used by many.
• The reason why some do not prefer this is that withdrawal requires PIN verification at an ATM.
• An applicant must have the wallet app in their name, and the details must match the application form details.

Retail Stores

• Some grants can be withdrawn at major local retail outlets in your area, like Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, and Boxer
  
• Beneficiaries can also use their SASSA card to make regular withdrawals or purchases.
• This may also require a little extra effort, as you first have to confirm from the retail store whether they are accepting SASSA payments; if not, then you have to find another retailer.

When we deal with technology, we have to face some technical issues sometimes, but these are solvable; some of these may require some extra attention. Here, I’ve discussed all the most common issues beneficiaries face in their payment receiving journey.

Why Is My SASSA Payment Delayed or Missing?

If your payment isn’t reflecting in your bank account or the status is showing delayed, then it can be due to multiple reasons. Let’s look at what potentially causing your payment to be delayed:

Problem: Your identity verification by SASSA, including other verification checks like bank and personal details, is still being checked; this happens mostly with new beneficiaries.

Solution: You can either wait for further processings on your application by SASSA, or you can contact using the official SASSA tollfree number to inquire about this, patience is the solution in most of the cases.

Problem: Incorrect banking details or invalid banking details are found, is mostly caused by the applicant themselves and can be solved in a few steps only.

Solution: Check whether you’ve entered the wrong bank account number or the account holder name, if this is the case then open your application in your account and edit it ASAP.

Problem: Duplicate details can be a thing detected by SASSA; this is rare, but happens to applicants with slow internet connections.

Solution: Before submitting your application, ensure your internet is working properly, and avoid using slow internet for this purpose. To solve this, you can call SASSA and ask for help.

Problem: Payment system delays can be caused not due to SASSA, but it’s the fault of banks, PostBank, or other payment processing systems like Cash Send.

Solution: Just sit back and wait for their system to be resolved. If this persists for a long time, contact your bank company or payment processor, or company.

How to Fix Incorrect Banking Details or Declined Payments

If banking detail is the issues for your delayed payment, then it can be solved by just editing your bank details in your SASSA account. Here’s how:

• Log in to your account by entering your personal details.
• Search for the change banking details section in your account.
• You’ll receive a special link on your phone. Click on it.
• Edit the bank consent form and write the correct details this time.

What to Do if Your SRD R350 Grant Is Not Paid

Before going ahead to solve this, first perform an SASSA application status and see what message it shows against your check.

Message: Approved, but no payment date. This means your payment processing is still under review by SASSA. Give it some time, and it will be resolved.

Message: If the status shows declined, it means your payment has been rejected. Apply for reconsideration within the next 30 days get results as soon as possible..

A single payment issue can cause a delay in your payment reaching your account timely manner. Avoiding some mistakes and keeping these tips in mind will ensure timely payment arrivals, so you don’t have to face any inconvenience.

If the problem is at your end, then you have to take action proactively, but if the problem is related to SASSA’s system, then you have to do nothing; in general, it’s a headache for SASSA and will be resolved shortly.

Keeping Your Contact and Banking Info Up to Date

After SASSA has launched its automatic means test verification and other verification systems, your work is half done; now you just have to keep an eye that your details being updated in your account.

Keep checking whether your bank account is valid and working, and is registered in your own name; banks registered in someone else’s name can stop your payments.

The phone number you’ve used in your application must be working; it’s usually not recommended to shift or change your phone number frequently to avoid payment-related issues.

Still, if you want to change your number due to any serious reason, you can follow the phone number change guide, but always do this at least 2 weeks before official payment dates to avoid scheduled payments to the next dates.

Staying Informed on Changes in SASSA Regulations

Keep yourself updated about the policy changes SASSA often makes. You can use new channels, or SASSA official website, or social media pages to stay updated regarding any such changes.

Common Problems at ATM Points With Possible Solutions

Network Connection Failed: This simply means the ATM you’re at is just facing an internet connection problem, which can be sometimes disconnected by banks for top-ups.

Solution: You can either stay for some time and schedule another visit on the same day or next day, or you can also contact the management team of the bank.

Processing Error: This in most of the cases due to malfunctioning of the ATM.

Solution: The best solution for this is to contact management; sometimes, they are not aware of this and because of you, it can be helpful for others. If it’s going to take some time, you can schedule another visit or use another ATM in your area.

Card Captured: This isn’t always the fault of the machine or management, in most of the cases this is due to irregular or suspicious behaviour of ATM users with ATM like pressing unnecessary buttons.

Solution: Press buttons politely, and if possible, use the card scanner on the ATM to scan your car and withdraw.

Cash Bounce: After the machine releases your money and you don;t take it, the system of the machine thinks you’re facing any theft.

Solution: Take your money quickly as the machine releases it, and if someone is trying to snatch your money, immediately contact the bank helpline or press the router button if the ATM has.

No Cash: If you see no cash message on the screen, this means the machine is ran out of cahs and need to be filled by the management.

Solution: Use another bank’s ATM in your area or either wait for the machine to be filled up with new cash.
